Dr. Garrison came receiving advanced fellowship training in sports medicine, arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery at the renowned American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. There he worked under Dr. James Andrews and Dr. William Clancy providing care for collegiate and professional athletes from around the world. After completing his fellowship in sports medicine in 1998 he started his practice in Alexandria, Louisiana. Since that time he has dedicated himself to bringing the highest level of quality orthopaedic and sports medicine care to Louisiana; returning athletes and active people to high levels of performance after injury. He is an associate team physician for Grambling State University and has been an orthopaedic consultant for hundreds of high school and college athletes in Louisiana for the past six years.

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Garrison received his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Brown University in 1987. There he was elected co-captain of the varsity football team and received all-Ivy League honors. After a brief stint with the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers he went on to receive his medical degree at the University of California, San Francisco in 1992 and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Yale University School of Medicine in 1997.

Dr. Garrison is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in arthroscopic repair and reconstruction of the knee and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and reconstructive instability repairs of the shoulder. He is an innovator in his field with special interests in mini-incision total knee and total hip replacements. He is currently involved in teaching the mini-incision anterior approach in total hip replacements to other surgeons around the country. As part of his practice philosophy, Dr. Garrison truly believes that the patient comes first and emphasizes patient education and patient participation in treatment decisions.

Dr. Garrison is a consultant for orthopaedic implant companies and heads the American Musculoskeletal Research Institute (AMRI), a non-for-profit research organization working to benefit patients with musculoskeletal problems. He has published articles in peer reviewed journals and presented his original scientific research at national meetings.
