“The complex anatomy and biomechanics of the hand led me to acquire the special training this subspecialty requires in order to give the most advanced treatment to my patients.”

Dr Miranda joined OSMS after a brief period practicing in Ville Platte, LA. Originally from Argentina, he received his medical degree in 1994 and completed his General Orthopaedic residency in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He completed a fellowship in Hand and Upper extremity in 2003 at the world-renowned C.M. Kleinert Institute in Louisville, KY. He worked under Dr. Harold Kleinert, considered one of the “fathers of hand surgery” in the US and along other experienced hand surgeons as well. He extended his training spending three years with them. Dr. Miranda gained a vast experience in the treatment of hand and upper extremity injuries including complex traumatic injuries and replantation.

Dr. Miranda believes that comfort during and after the surgery is essential, and encourages the use of regional anesthesia for the upper extremity surgeries, as it gives the patient better pain control in the immediate post-operative period.

Dr. Miranda special interest includes distal radius fractures, elbow fractures and instability, distal radioulnar joint injuries, small joint replacement, shoulder replacement, wrist arthroscopy and mini-incision for total knee and hip replacement.

At his hometown, Dr Miranda started playing rugby since 8 years of age and after getting his medical degree, he became an active rugby team physician having the opportunity to join some international rugby tours. He is also a soccer player, the most popular sport in his country of origin.
