No need to change tack

Retired banker

He has the wind in his sails again.

His dream of early retirement and new life of playing golf and sailing went on hold as osteoarthritis crippled his plans. Frustrated by increasing pain and lack of mobility, he consulted his surgeon for a solution. Thanks to bilateral OXINIUM* knee implants, he is back on track.

Edna

"I feel just marvelous. I now have a dependable knee. You know that day in day out it's there for you."

After 50 years of working in a hospital and being on her feet all day, Edna's joints had suffered a lot of wear and tear. In 1992, she had both knees replaced. At first everything was successful, but then some irritation and pain began to develop. It worsened and soon the pain became so severe that she had to use a walker to get around. Edna's body was reacting to the nickel in her knee implants.

Her surgeon decided that the implants had to be removed, but needed an allergy friendly material. He was told of the OXINIUM* material, a unique technology from Smith & Nephew that contains no detectable nickel. As a result, he replaced one implant with a GENESIS** OXINIUM knee system. Now Edna is riding an exercise bike and doing floor exercises. And she's planning on having the other knee replaced.
